Clyde Property duo launch Glasgow’s first dedicated hybrid estate agency

Barry Walker and Stuart Wylie have pooled their extensive knowledge of the property market to launch online estate agency Walker Wylie – helping to drive a digital change in the way estate agencies engage with customers that is similar to what the banking industry has experienced in recent years.

In just two months the company has already listed more than 25 properties in the Glasgow area, with more than 70 per cent now either sold or under offer.

Walker Wylie’s unique selling point is the fact that they have coupled online convenience with traditional service levels. Adopting this online model also ensures fees are kept to a minimum of only £595, dramatically below the high street estate agency equivalent.

Barry Walker, Director of Walker Wylie said: “It was our goal to create a business model that combined the benefits of traditional estate agency service with online convenience.

“Our approach is not to be mistaken with online agents who simply offer a means of listing your home on website portals. We recognise the importance of experienced local knowledge to ensure you receive the best market advice.”

Commenting on the state of the industry, Stuart Wylie, Director of Walker Wylie said: “The current lack of housing stock seems set to continue and with demand outweighing the supply of new properties coming onto the market, we will still see a significant proportion of properties selling at closing dates within a couple of weeks of being listed.

“Considering the uncertainty of recent months following the Brexit vote it would appear it is business as usual and the recent employment and PMI figures have provided additional confidence to the economy as a whole.

“Since the start of the year we have seen the reemergence of homes being sold well in the excess of Home Report values, predominately fueled by the growing sense of competition between buyers. Based on post Brexit sales, we would suggest the market has ‘calmed’ rather than contracted.”

Walker Wylie is looking to build on its initial success over the next 12 months by listing around 200 properties with a sales target of 90 per cent.
