The Scottish Salmon Company targets Japan with Tartan Salmon brand
Exporting to 26 countries around the world, with a key focus on the Far East and US, SSC has seen a 122% increase in exports in the last two years, with 58% of revenues now derived from global exports.
Japan is the second biggest consumer of seafood in the world and exports of Scottish Salmon have risen four-fold in the last year. Tartan Salmon has been developed in response to the growing demand in the Japanese export market. Farmed in Scotland exclusively by The Scottish Salmon Company, Tartan Salmon is raised in the remote Western Highlands and Islands and is fully traceable from loch to plate.
Craig Anderson, Chief Executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “Scottish Provenance is known, respected and coveted around the world, with demand for quality and traceability continuing to grow.
“In 2016, we introduced Tartan designs to our range of fresh Scottish Salmon. These instantly recognisable Scottish designs were so popular that we have trademarked the ‘Tartan Salmon’ brand name to represent Scottish excellence in Japan.
“We’re passionate about Scottish Provenance and bringing the finest quality Scottish Salmon to worldwide markets. We were delighted to unveil our Tartan Salmon brand at the Seafood Expo in Tokyo.”
