STV Star David Farrell Gets Festive for Beatson Cancer Charity
The STV city channel’s Live at Five host is inviting everyone to come together and get in the festive spirit at Beatson Cancer Charity’s third Christmas Concert. Taking place at the stunning City Halls in Glasgow on Sunday 11 December, David will be leading the crowd through the charity’s jam packed Christmas extravaganza.
He said: “It’s an honour to support Beatson Cancer Charity and to be a part of this special event. Cancer affects so many people and I want to do what I can to show my support. I recently visited the Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre and I was blown away by the level of care the staff provide to the patients and their families, they are truly inspiring individuals.”
Celebrating the true spirt of Christmas, the concert will feature music of the modern and the traditional variety, including entertainment from The Glasgow Academy Senior Boys Ensemble, Musicality from the McCallum School of Music and the UK’s largest, most popular contemporary choir, The Glasgow Rock Choir.
The Christmas Concert will be led by the driving force behind the Glasgow Philharmonia Orchestra, Ross Gunning. He said: “Beatson Cancer Charity is a great cause and is so close to many people's hearts. To produce its Christmas Concert was an easy decision. Bringing an orchestra, choirs, musical theatre cast and a top class singer will make this a day to remember and a great way of raising funds for Beatson Cancer Charity."
Adding to the festivities will be international entertainer Clark Stewart. With superb musical performances, festive readings, and Christmas drinks, the fundraising concert will capture the magic of this festive season.
David Welch, Chief Executive at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “Christmas is a time to share with those closest to us and enjoy happy memories of times spent together. With a fantastic line up and a beautiful setting, our Christmas Concert is a celebration of the Christmas spirit to be enjoyed and shared with those closest to you at such a special time of the year. I am sure that everyone who comes along will really enjoy the concert and help to make this a very special Beatson event.”
All funds raised from the event will help the charity provide vital specialist staff posts including nursing, radiography, physics and research based staff as well as funding enhanced medical equipment, innovative service developments, research projects and educational initiatives to support the 8000 new patients who attend The Beatson and its related facilities each year.
